New City, New Opportunties to Hollaback! – A Farewell from Angela

Hello Holla-followers!

Unfortunately, I will be leaving Hollaback! Boston to work on a lot of new things in my life – graduating from college, moving to Detroit, and working full time as a high school social studies teacher! While I won’t necessarily be part of a Hollaback! group any longer (I mean, hey, there isn’t one in Detroit, yet…), I am excited to be able to use this opportunity educating youth to ensure that young women and LGBTIQA students understand gender-based violence and that young men know how to be positive bystanders  as they mature into adulthood.

I want to thank all of you for being a part of this experience with me, and I want to thank Britni, Kate, Jane, and Devon for helping me learn and grow. This goes without saying, but of course I will continue to read YOUR stories, so make sure to keep ‘em coming!

Sincerely,

Angela

We actively denounce the notion that street harassment is culturally accepted and that victims somehow "deserve" it. Through raising awareness and sharing experiences, we hope to put an end to catcalling, groping, stalking, public masturbation, assaults, racial slurs, and other forms of street harassment. Because we believe we have the power to create a world where we can feel hot, confident, and badass, while still feeling safe!
